In the 2006 Economic Development Strategic Plan four areas in Stafford County were indentified as prime for redevelopment:
As our region's population grows these areas will provide important opportunities for businesses and recreation. The following links include information on each development area, as well as information on public meetings, redevelopment progress, news and staff contact information.
- Boswell's Corner A two mile stretch extending south from Quantico Marine Corps Base along Rt. 1 and I-95.
- Courthouse Area The area encompassing the Courthouse, County Buildings, and new Stafford Hospital on Rt. 1 at Courthouse Road,I-95 exit 140.
- Falmouth Village: The historic and recreation area adjacent to US-1 at US-17, along the Rappahannock River, opposite the City of Fredericksburg.
- Southern Gateway: Area along US-17, between I-95 and Berea Road.
Stafford County is encouraging redevelopment in these areas through private sector investment and partnership. Redevelopment efforts will provide a framework for improvements in these areas over time . These changes will provide a more sustainable economic future for these areas and the residents of Stafford.
To move our redevelopment effort forward, we will be hiring a consulting team to prepare master redevelopment plan. This plan will help us identify an appropriate role for the county in each redevelopment area and provide us with an action plan for success.
