The Stafford Hospital Center by Medicorp opened in late February 2009. As the new hospital opens gradually in phases, residents can expect to see more physician offices opening, with a wider variety of specialists available. Stafford residents will also have access to more outpatient surgery, imaging (x-rays and advanced technology) and other important services. These services will be easy to access for community members and EMS services.
The Stafford Hospital Center Campus is located on a 72-acre campus that's within 10 miles of most Stafford County residents (near the corner of Route 630/Courthouse Road and US Route 1/Jefferson Davis Highway). The site includes wetlands, and MediCorp has begun to work with environmental groups to preserve this area for community use.
The new Stafford Hospital Center will be a full service, acute care hospital with the following features planned when all phases are complete:
- 100 inpatient beds with room to grow
- Medical/Surgical units - 84 beds
- Intensive Care unit - 6 critical care beds
- Labor and Delivery unit 10 LDRP rooms
- Full service Emergency Department
- Surgical Suite - 4 operating rooms
- Medical Cardiac services
- Neurological testing
- Respiratory Therapy
- Physical Medicine and Rehab
- Imaging-comprehensive services and capabilities
- Pathology with on-site lab
- Pharmacy
- Support departments, including security
- Helistop
