Air
The major national and international airports of Dulles, Reagan National, BWI and Richmond are located as close as 45 minutes away. These airports are easily accessible via major highways of the Greater Washington DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area.
- Stafford Regional Airport: opened in 2002, with a 5,000-foot runway. This state-of-the-art facility has a fully functioning Instrument Landing System (ILS) and a Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) which makes the facility an "all weather airport." The airport serves as a reliever to Dulles and Reagan National Airports. The facility is currently receiving over 800 flights a month, a third of which is corporate traffic.

- Dulles International Airport: One-hour northwest via I-95 to I-495 or U.S. 17 to VA 28.
- Richmond International Airport: One hour south via I-95 to I-295.

- Shannon Airport: is located in Fredericksburg, 10 miles south of Stafford Regional Airport. The airport has a 3,000-foot runway.

Stafford has 597.35 miles of state maintained roadways that include 16 miles of interstate, 46 primary and 535.35 miles of secondary roads.
- Interstate 95 bisects Stafford from north to south. (Interchanges are at mile markers 148, 143, 140, 136 & 133)
- Interstate 66 and Interstate 81 are easily accessed via US 17.
- U.S. Route 1 provides additional north-south highway alternatives in the County.

Rail Service
The East Coast's primary north-south rail line bisects Stafford. CSX Transportation is linked to the nation's network of freight and passenger service. Convenient Virginia Railway Express (VRE) - Commuter Service to Washington began along this line in July 1992. CSX provides freight service. Amtrak provides passenger service with multiple trains daily.
