The Stafford Critical Tourism Grant was created to support tourism-based businesses and nonprofits in Stafford County that have been affected by COVID-19.  This grant program is funded through Federal CARES Act funds provided by the Stafford County Board of Supervisors and administered by the Stafford County Economic Development Authority (EDA).

Qualified businesses are eligible for a grant of up to $50,000.  The total allocation of grant monies available is $300,000.

The Stafford Critical Tourism Grant is open to Stafford-based tourism (visitor) for-profit and nonprofit organizations.

 

GRANT AMOUNTS:

Qualified businesses are eligible for a grant of up to $50,000.  The total allocation of grant monies available is $300,000.  Grant awards shall be based on business modification costs and those costs necessitated due to the impacts of COVID-19, to include, but not limited to; 

  1. PPE Equipment and Materials in response to modified business practices
  2. Technology Upgrades to respond to covid-19 pandemic and new market conditions as result of covid-19
  3. Marketing the business as open and responsive to Covid-19 and adhering to social distancing guidelines
  4. Business site, building, property/grounds upgrades and modifications needed to comply with new Covid-19 social distancing guidelines
  5. Documented lost revenue (ticket sales, membership fees, special events).

 

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA:

Applicant must be a Stafford County-based tourism (visitor) for-profit or nonprofit enterprises. Hotels, motels and other lodging establishments are not eligible to apply.

  1. Applicants must document financial impact due to COVID-19 and provide detailed and acceptable records at time of application—there will be no contingent approvals. Incomplete and/or applications submitted without complete documentation will be denied.
  2. Preference will be given to those businesses or non-profit organizations that have not previously received CARES Act grant funds through the EDA.
  3. Applicant must be defined as a small business as defined by the SBA small business classification (NAICS) code (EDA will review). To verify applicant must provide total revenue (annual receipts).

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED OF APPLICANT:

All applications shall be submitted via online https://gostaffordva.com/coronavirus/.  Applications received via email, mailed and/or hand delivered will not be accepted.

  1. IRS Form W-9;
  2. 2019 Federal Tax Return
  3. Documentation sufficient to provide evidence of “actual” business modification costs, those costs necessitated due to the impacts of COVID-19, or financial impacts as detailed above.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION AND PROCESSES:

Qualified businesses are eligible for a grant of up to $50,000.  The total allocation of grant monies available is $300,000. 

All grant applications must be submitted via the electronic application which can be found at https://gostaffordva.com/coronavirus/.   Applications received via email, mailed and/or hand delivered will not be accepted.  All requested application materials must be submitted for full grant consideration.

Applications will be accepted starting Wednesday, November 4th at 9:00 am.  The grant application window closes on Wednesday, November 11th at 4:00 pm.  Upon submission, your application will be assigned to a member of the Stafford County Department of Economic Development and Tourism Staff for review and determination if the business meets the minimum requirements for eligibility.  A member of the Stafford County ED&T staff will contact you directly regarding any questions/concerns which arise during your grant application review.  Applicants will be notified on the final determination of their grant application on Friday, November 13th
