STAFFORD, VA – RIoT is thrilled to unveil the entrepreneurs of our Fall 2023 cohort! The next class of the RIoT Accelerator Program (RAP) represents diverse talent tackling important issues through technology.

Hailing from Virginia, North Carolina and Canada, these founders leverage backgrounds across industries to advance air quality monitoring, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, healthcare solutions and more. At our Virginia Smart Community Testbed, they’ll support each other’s diverse expertise while gaining insights from mentors.

Over the next three months, our RAP XVI startups will develop their skills and networks through workshops, mentorship and events tailored to their needs. The program will culminate in November 2023 with a pitch event in Virginia, where each startup will have the chance to showcase their progress and innovations.

Cell Matrix Corporation | Blacksburg, VA

Cell Matrix Corporation has developed a sensor-based lookout for boats to detect hazards and support routing in real-time. With an initial commercialization plan targeting private boaters and fleet operators, our solution could also have implications for unmanned vehicles, transportation automation, remote sensing, and environmental monitoring. With government partners, we can create and deploy transformative new technologies in autonomous vehicles, smart cities, border security, emergency response and disaster management, scientific instrumentation, traffic management, mapping and surveillance.

DeVil-Tech | Stafford, VA

DeVil-Tech is a services and product-based company headquartered in Stafford, VA. It was originally started to provide systems engineering and data analysis for enterprise-scale problems in the Department of Defense (DoD). In this respect, it supports mainly DoD agencies across the country in areas like testing, data collection, logistics, cybersecurity and systems engineering. Today, we are growing the product side of the business with a GIS-like software platform for situational awareness to support first response, emergency management, and disaster relief operations.

BEAM Diagnostics | Roanoke, VA

BEAM is a digital health company that is pioneering the seamless integration of advanced machine learning algorithmic behavioral economic scoring with clinical assessment to revolutionize behavioral health screening. Currently, behavioral health factors contribute to 44% of morbidity and mortality rates in the US, yet only 13% of patients undergo routine screening due to cumbersome and stigmatizing assessment methods. There is a major gap in the ability to screen and identify individuals in need of treatment related to behavioral health. BEAM’s platform, Beacon, addresses these challenges by offering faster, more accurate, and less burdensome behavioral screening experiences for doctors and their patients.

N-Smart | Sterling, VA

N-Smart empowers Electric Transmission & Distribution companies to efficiently and accurately restore energy services with the help of our intelligent damage assessment and system recovery capabilities. The platform allows remote monitoring of the utility pole’s condition to assess damage during a storm, monitor the tools in the service trucks for availability and compliance and automate supply management to guarantee the availability of necessary materials during storm restoration. With N-Smart, multiple sensor data is connected to a central system through the right connectivity in a unified dashboard.
