Stafford, Virginia based business Cyber Bytes Foundation was recently awarded a $1 million grant from the National Institutes of Science and Technology (NIST) to help create natural authentication methods for first responders using Augmented Reality (AR) systems.

First responders routinely operate and perform in challenging environments with heavy equipment that can not only be fatiguing but impede on their responsibilities and well-being with such heavy equipment. This grant in partnership with the XR Safety Initiative can be a valuable resource for Public Safety Organizations as it reduces the risk of challenging environmental issues on the job and looks for opportunities to implement equipment advancements through the use of augmented realty.
