Virginia Career Works has two new programs designed help Virginia Businesses attract and train employees:

  1.  Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA): By working directly with the Virginia Career Works, businesses can be matched with potential employees. Employers may also join industry sector partnerships to address other workforce needs. Funds may be used for incumbent worker training, Registered Apprenticeship, transitional jobs, on the job training, and customized training. Click here for details and apply here.

  1. The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC): Businesses can apply for a federal tax credit that benefits both the business and qualified workers. This is a Federal tax credit incentive that Congress provides to private-sector businesses for hiring individuals from any of ten target groups who have consistently faced significant barriers to employment.
