FREDERICKSBURG, VA (August 19, 2024) – Sparks Adaptive Development Academy (SADA), an innovative child development center that prioritizes the needs of children with special needs, celebrated its grand opening on August 16th, 2024, at 11:30 AM. Located at 515 Pratt St, Fredericksburg, VA 22405, SADA is dedicated to offering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where children can play, grow, and reach their fullest potential.

Founded by Danella Kirk, Sparks Adaptive Development Academy is the culmination of her vision to create a specialized center that meets the unique needs of children with special needs. SADA provides individualized attention, therapeutic interventions, and a supportive community to foster each child’s development across cognitive, emotional, physical, and social dimensions.

“We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, explore, and flourish in a safe and caring environment,” said Danella Kirk. “Our mission at Sparks Adaptive Development Academy is to deliver a highly personalized, research-based program that supports the development of each child, addressing not only their learning needs but also their social and emotional well-being. We strive to create an atmosphere where children with special needs can thrive and feel valued.”

Sparks Adaptive Development Academy offers a range of programs tailored to meet the individual needs of each child. Whether a child has developmental delays, learning disabilities, or other special needs, SADA’s highly trained and compassionate staff provide customized care designed to promote growth in all key areas of child development, including:

  • Therapeutic Interventions: To support physical, cognitive, and emotional development, SADA incorporates specialized therapies directly into the daily curriculum. These interventions are designed to meet the needs of each child, ensuring that their personal growth is nurtured in an inclusive and engaging way.
  • Research-Based Instruction: SADA utilizes the STREAMin3 curriculum, developed in partnership with the Department of Education, alongside Purdue University’s Early Learning Matters curriculum. These research-backed programs provide a structured yet flexible learning environment that emphasizes academic readiness, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving.
  • Individualized Learning Plans: Recognizing that each child learns at their own pace, SADA crafts individualized learning plans. These plans address specific developmental goals and are built in collaboration with families and, when applicable, external specialists. From literacy and numeracy to social-emotional learning, every aspect of a child’s growth is supported.
  • Holistic Development: SADA’s approach extends beyond academics to ensure that children’s social, emotional, and physical needs are met. Programs focus on developing communication skills, building healthy relationships, fostering independence, and cultivating emotional regulation. Children participate in activities that range from music and art to movement and nature exploration, enhancing their ability to interact with the world around them.

“At Sparks, we see the power of connection, not just with the children we serve, but also with their families and the broader community,” said Kirk. “We are committed to providing ongoing support to caregivers, ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to help their children thrive,” remarked Kirk.

Sparks Adaptive Development Academy is a true community partner, offering resources and support to families while also collaborating with local organizations to enhance the services available to children. By building strong partnerships with parents, caregivers, and the broader community, SADA ensures that the children in its care receive the holistic support they need to succeed both in and outside of the classroom.

Celebrating a New Beginning

The grand opening event on August 16th, 2024, showcased the Academy’s programs and offered families, caregivers, and community members the chance to meet the team behind this transformative initiative. Attendees learned more about the services available at SADA and how the Academy is working to build a brighter future for children with special needs.

“By providing a dedicated and supportive environment for children with special needs, this institution not only addresses a local need but also stands as an example of the compassion and innovation we want to find in our business community. We are proud to add this inspiring addition to our local landscape and congratulate Danella Kirk in making this vision a reality,” remarked Deuntay Diggs, George Washington District.
