Stafford County, VA — The Stafford County Department of Economic Development is proud to announce the 2025 Shop Small Stafford movement in celebration of Small Business Saturday on November 29, 2025. This countywide initiative encourages residents and visitors alike to shop locally, discover new favorites, and help strengthen Stafford’s economy — all while earning the chance to win big when you shop small.

“When you shop local, you’re not only supporting a neighbor’s business — you’re supporting the quality of life we all enjoy in Stafford,” said Deuntay Diggs, Stafford County Board of Supervisors, George Washington District. “Small Business Saturday is a reminder that our local choices create big local impacts.”

More than 5,000 businesses call Stafford County home. When residents shop local, they do far more than just make a purchase — they invest in Stafford’s future.

  • For every $1 spent at a local business, approximately $0.68 stays in the community, fueling jobs, growth, and opportunity.
  • Those local dollars generate tax revenue that supports Stafford’s schools, parks, and essential services
  • Shopping small helps close Stafford’s “retail gap”, keeping spending power in-county instead of flowing to big-box or out-of-county competitors.

“Shop Small Stafford is about partnership — between the county, local businesses, and our community,” said Liz Barber, Director of Stafford County Economic Development. “It’s a fun, impactful way to showcase the incredible variety of small businesses that make Stafford unique while empowering residents to keep their dollars local.”
