Stafford, VA — May 15, 2026 – The Stafford County Economic Development Authority (EDA) proudly hosted the 2026 Business Appreciation Reception on Thursday, May 14, at the University of Mary Washington Stafford Campus – Gates Hudson Building, bringing together a dynamic assembly of business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community partners for an evening dedicated to recognition, connection, and celebration.
For more than three decades, this signature event has served as a cornerstone of Stafford County’s business community, honoring the businesses and individuals whose leadership and commitment continue to drive the region’s economic vitality. This year’s reception carried that legacy forward with renewed energy, underscoring the strength and momentum of Stafford’s thriving business landscape.
“The Business Appreciation Reception is a reflection of everything that makes Stafford County a remarkable place to do business,” said Marlon Wilson, Vice-Chairman of the Stafford County Economic Development Authority. “Each year, we gather to celebrate the companies and leaders who are not only achieving success, but also shaping the future of our community. Their vision, resilience, and investment in Stafford are what set this region apart.”
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the EDA’s prestigious business awards, recognizing organizations that exemplify excellence and impact:
- Business of the Year: Glamour Beauty & Brows
- Innovation Award: Bill Carroll Foundation / Groove Factory Music
- Donald H. Newlin Community Stewardship Award: Hilldrup and SimVentions, Inc.
In a historic first, the Donald H. Newlin Community Stewardship Award was presented to two recipients, reflecting the extraordinary commitment both organizations have demonstrated in giving back to the Stafford community and fostering meaningful, lasting impact.
In addition the Economic Development department recognized longstanding businesses in the county through the Legacy Business Recognition program, celebrating business with 20+ years of operations in Stafford:

“The caliber of this year’s honorees speaks volumes about the depth and diversity of Stafford’s business community,” said Liz Barber, Director of the Stafford County Department of Economic Development and Tourism. “From innovative entrepreneurs to long-standing industry leaders, these businesses are driving progress, creating opportunity, and strengthening the fabric of our community every day. We are proud to support their continued growth and success.”
The evening also spotlighted the Legacy Business Recognition Program, an initiative dedicated to honoring businesses that have made sustained contributions to Stafford County over time. By recognizing organizations that have operated in the community for five or more years—including Women-Owned, Veteran-Owned, Minority-Owned, and Military Spouse-Owned businesses—the program reinforces Stafford’s commitment to celebrating the diverse businesses that help shape and define the local economy.
Attendees experienced an engaging program that included a business update, meaningful networking opportunities, and a shared celebration of the partnerships that continue to fuel Stafford’s economic momentum.
The success of the 2026 Business Appreciation Reception was made possible through the generous support of its sponsors, led by STACK Infrastructure, returning as Title Sponsor for the second consecutive year.
“We are honored to once again serve as the Title Sponsor of this impactful event,” said Nick Minor, Director of Public Affairs at STACK Infrastructure. “Stafford County continues to demonstrate what is possible when public and private sectors work together with a shared vision. Supporting the Business Appreciation Reception is one way we can recognize the businesses driving that progress and reaffirm our commitment to this exceptional community.”
Additional sponsors included Hirschler (Refreshments Sponsor), Germanna Community College (Entertainment Sponsor), and Welcome Sponsors Matern Staffing, Stafford Printing (In-Kind), and Elevate Designs & Events (In-Kind).
As Stafford County continues to grow and evolve, the Business Appreciation Reception remains a powerful reminder of the innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurial spirit that define its business community.
